MATCHAandMORE is pleased to feature ceramic artist Richard Milgrim.

American potter Richard Milgrim has apprenticed with Master Potters Tahara Tobei (Hagi ceramics), Fujiwara Yu (Bizen Ceramics) and Kato Koemon (Mino ceramics) through introductions from Dr. Sen Soshitsu, 15th Grand Tea Master of the Urasenke Tradition of Tea.
In 1984, he established his own independent kiln, named "RICHARDO-GAMA" by Dr. Sen, located in Northern Kyoto Prefecture. He also has a kiln in Concord, Massachusetts called "KONKO-GAMA". His work, which includes the whole range of utensils for Chanoyu, the Japanese Way of Tea, has been exhibited in numerous one-man and group shows throughout Japan and in the United States and New Zealand. In 1979, he graduated from Anitoch College in Ohio and was awarded the Thomas J. Watson Fellowship which led to his apprenticeship with Iwabuchi Shigeya, Master Potter in Kyoto, Japan. He also studied Chanoyu in the Urasenke Midori-kai program for one year.

The following are photos of some his work. If you are interested in purchasing his ceramics or ordering any of his catalogs which show the whole range of his work, visit www.teaceramics.com.
